Familiar, warm, and ready for a night out.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00004e;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00004e;\"><strong>We know that our brains are wired for socialization, which makes us eager to gather again. Evolution led to a remodeled and more intricate brainstem in humans, which is activated when we hear a soothing voice or see a relaxed face. These signs become our social safety cues. They contribute to our ability to feel safe near another person \u2013 even when socially distanced.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00004e;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00004e;\"><strong>As social beings, we are pleased to have welcomed many of you through our doors to experience five new exhibitions in the galleries last week. It is truly a pleasure watching guests as they enjoy the &#8220;landscapes&#8221; only to realize through chats with staff or Barry Beder himself that these are actually \u201cHullScapes,\u201d photographs taken of the scum line of boats. This revelation is blowing people&#8217;s minds.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00004e;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00004e;\"><strong>Our visitors have been likewise engaged by the work in connecting galleries by Elaine Gardner, Anaclaire Tecca, and our newest resident artist, Nate Olin.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00004e;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00004e;\"><strong>You can feel the building taking a breath as people move through and as our team busily sets up for our next on-site event. You hear artists talking together about creating during the lockdown and long time supporters of the Center reminiscing about all the good times that have had together &#8230; and will have again.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00004e;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong>&#8220;Connectedness with other mammals, other humans, is really, in a very pragmatic way, our purpose in life.&#8221; &#8211; Stephen W.
