Small group tours that explore the heart of colonial Newport will be offered on Fridays and Saturdays at 11am. Social distancing guidelines of maintaining six feet apart from members of their tour group that are outside of their \u201cquaranteam\u201d and face masks are required.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong>The tour schedule will feature the popular\u00a0Discover Colonial Newport\u00a0tour on Fridays which\u00a0uncovers stories of 18<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century entrepreneurship, African American heritage and religious diversity during Newport\u2019s colonial era. The focus of the\u00a0Saturday tours will change weekly. The complete schedule is as follows:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong><u>Saturday August 1 at 11 am<\/u>: The\u00a0Road to Independence\u00a0tour features Newport\u2019s role during the American Revolution.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong><u>Friday August 7 at 11 am<\/u>: Discover Colonial Newport<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong><u>Saturday August 8 at 11 am<\/u>: The\u00a0Golden to Gilded\u00a0tour explores Newport\u2019s transformation from colonial Golden Age to Gilded Age summer colony.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong><u>Friday August 14 at 11 am<\/u>: Discover Colonial Newport<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong><u>Saturday August 15 at 11 am<\/u>: The Rogues &amp; Scoundrels tour shows where scoundrels lived, pirates profited and where criminals were punished.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong>And a socially\u00a0 living history program at the Colony House 10\u00a0am-2\u00a0pm: The Stamp Act Riots of August 1765.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong><u>Friday August 21 at 11\u00a0<\/u><u>am<\/u>: Discover Colonial Newport<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong><u>Saturday August 22 at 11 am<\/u>: The\u00a0Common Burying Ground\u00a0tour digs into\u00a0the stone carvers, their art and the diverse people buried there who helped shape Newport\u2019s history.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong><u>Friday August 28 at 11 am<\/u>: Discover Colonial Newport<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong><u>Saturday August 29 at 11 am and 1 pm<\/u>: The\u00a0Point Neighborhood\u00a0tour highlights the rich colonial history of the craftsmen, merchants, religious dissenters and other personalities who once called this historic neighborhood home.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong>The hour-long walking tours depart from the Colony House and cost $15 per person, $10 for Newport Historical Society members and active duty military.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong>Tickets must be purchased online at\u00a0<span style=\"color: #950000;\">NewportHistoryTours.com<\/span>, cash payments are not accepted.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong>Tour groups will not exceed ten participants and\u00a0visitors will be asked a series of screening questions to ensure the health of everyone attending. Visitors can view inside the first floor and ask questions about the building\u2019s rich history. Brief tours of the second floor are available by donation, depending upon staff availability.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong>The Newport Historical Society is pleased to offer a socially distant living history program.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #00274e;\"><strong>On Saturday, August 15<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0from 10 am-2 pm, two costumed living historians will interpret at the Colony House behind stanchions. The historical interpreters will represent opposing viewpoints during the Newport Stamp Act Riots of August 1765 and debate about the growing tensions concerning the stamp tax.
