The DeWolf family, Bristol\u2019s premier family in the 18<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0and early 19<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0centuries, was once one of the largest traders of slaves in New England.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #004a95;\"><strong>Learn how Bristol, New England, and all of America were impacted by the slave trading DeWolf\u2019s of Linden Place from museum educator, Robin Tremblay. Tremblay has extensively researched Rhode Island\u2019s connections to slavery and has led many tours along Bristol\u2019s slavery trail.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1130 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dodgemillmuseum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/G-LINDEN-2-OIP.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"295\" height=\"201\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #004a95;\"><strong>The guided tour takes place on Saturday, September 12th at 11am and begins at Linden Place, the Federal-style mansion built by architect Russell Warren for George DeWolf.\u00a0 The tour then continues through the center of historic Bristol and down to the waterfront on Thames Street, pointing out significant sites tied to Bristol\u2019s lengthy and profitable involvement in the slave trade.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #004a95;\"><strong>The tour is $15, $10 for Linden Place members. Reservations are required and the tour is limited to 6 people. Masks are required and social distancing rules will apply.
