(September 10, 2020) \u2013 New! Audubon is offering small group nature explorations designed with safety in mind. Meet some amazing owls, go on a full moon hike, or hawk watch at Napatree Point. Get out in nature, it\u2019s the safest place to be!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Rhode Island COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed for all programs. Small groups are led by Audubon naturalists. Family units are encouraged to participate together. Masks and social distancing are required. Participants must bring their own masks. Advance registration is required. Let an Audubon guide take your group of up to four people on a private two-hour natural history or bird watching tour in Southeastern New England. Tours will be designed with ages and interests in mind. \nStone walls are visible reminders of our rural history. These iconic features contribute to a sense of place but are threatened by incremental loss. \nFall is a wonderful time to search for hawks in New England. In Rhode Island, Napatree Point is one of the best locations to look for accipiters, falcons and eagles. If the winds are right, there can be a great show. Swallows, monarch butterflies and any remaining shorebirds may also be spotted. \nIt is so important to refill your personal fuel tank \u2013 to find ways to de-stress and rejuvenate. Many scientific studies tell us that time in nature is key for our physical and mental health. Join Audubon for a leisurely walk of shinrin-yoku, or Forest Bathing. With its roots in Japan, this walk will encourage you to focus on your physical body and what it is seeing, smelling and touching. This will be a walk focused on just \u201cbeing\u201d rather than \u201cI.D.ing\u201d out in nature. Please wear long pants and sturdy walking shoes. Face masks and social distancing are required.
