The\u00a0RI Heritage Month celebration<\/a><\/span>\u00a0is a weekly virtual event featuring\u00a041 performances and demonstrations from Rhode Island\u2019s diverse cultural community.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This Saturday\u2019s lineup includes Narragansett and Korean drumming, Greek and Middle Eastern dances, North Indian music, Italian and Chinese crafts, and one of last year\u2019s highlights\u2013a multicultural fashion show!\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A Tale of Two City Halls<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

North Providence and Cumberland have recently used Certified Local Government (CLG) Grant funding to complete conditions assessments of important town-owned buildings\u2013\u00a0North Providence\u2019s Old Town Hall\u00a0(1879, above) and\u00a0Cumberland Town Hall\u00a0(1894, below).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Each plan identifies building deficiencies, categorizes needs as immediate, medium, or long-term, and provides a prioritized list of recommendations and associated cost estimates.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

These reports will be extremely valuable resources for Town administrators and decision-makers as they plan and pursue funding for the long-term preservation of these historic structures.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Certified Local Government Grants are awarded annually to applicants from 18 Rhode Island CLG municipalities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
