Get into the spirit of the season and meet the ghosts of New Londoners who have ghoulish stories to tell \u2013 hear their tales and talk with them if you dare!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

On Saturday, October 17\u00a0th<\/sup>\u00a0from 4 to 7 pm, experience the grounds of the city\u2019s oldest house at twilight.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Enjoy fun and games for witches and warlocks of all ages, including tarot card readings and a Halloween-themed caricature artist. \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Admission is FREE, with a suggested donation of $5 per person to support programming at the Hempsted Houses. Registration for timed entry is required at\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Attendees may arrive at any time within their registered time block. Day-of event registration will be allowed only if the site has not reached capacity. The event is supported in part by: the Frank Loomis Palmer Fund, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee; the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut; and the Chelsea Groton Foundation, Inc.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In order to protect the health of our staff, visitors, and community, all visitors must wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines. The historic house museum interior will remain closed to the public during the\u00a0Hempsted Halloween<\/em>\u00a0event.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hempsted Houses are located at 11 Hempstead Street, New London, CT.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

About The Hempsted Houses<\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The 1678 Joshua Hempsted House is the oldest house in New London and is one of New England\u2019s best-documented dwellings. Adjacent to the Joshua Hempsted House is a rare stone house built in 1759 by Nathaniel Hempsted. Both structures survived the 1781 burning of New London and stand today as testaments of 17th and 18th-century daily life. Learn more at\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
