Wickford Art – First Exhibit of 2021: BLACK \u2018N WHITE\u2026an artist\u2019s interpretation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

North Kingstown (RI) \u2013 Wickford Art Association, is pleased to announce its first exhibit of 2021, which will open at our North Kingstown Beach Street Gallery on Friday- January 15.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Black \u2018N White is an all media, open exhibit, juried for entry and prizes by Mary Dondero, a founding artist of Imago Foundation for the Arts in Warren, Exhibition Curator for the Bristol Art Museum, and faculty member in the Department of Art & Art History at Bridgewater State University.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

With all works selected through a new online registration system recently launched by Wickford Art Association, Black \u2018N White be installed in early January following major interior improvements funded through The Champlin Foundations and Commerce RI.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibit will launch Friday- January 15 (noon-4pm, plus an opening reception requiring reservation that evening if State of Rhode Island physical distancing restrictions allow) and will be available to the public through February 7, 2021.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Prize-winning works will be announced opening night live and through social media.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>All work will also be placed online for virtual viewing as well, ensuring its accessibility for the community-at-large.\u00a0 Selected works will be available for post-exhibit viewing and purchase on WAA\u2019s new webstore, launching in January.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>More about Mary Dondero, Jurist:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

An interdisciplinary artist whose focus is on large-scale works-on-paper, mixed media, and photography, she earned her B.F.A. at Roger Williams University in Bristol RI, where she concentrated in Graphic Design, Printmaking and Photography.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dondero holds an M.A.T. from Rhode Island School of Design, and an M.F.A. from U-Mass Dartmouth.\u00a0 In 2011, Dondero was awarded a position as \u201cArtist in Resident\u201d at Zion National Park in Utah, which resulted in a body of work titled \u201cPerception, Time & Memory;\u201d one of the resulting paintings is held in the permanent collection at Zion Human History Museum in Springdale, UT.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dondero\u2019s artwork is regularly exhibited at Atelier Gallery in Newport RI. Her work is also exhibited nationally and internationally including the permanent collection of Naestved International Print Studio in Denmark, Bridgewater State University, the Newport Art Museum RI, Healing Arts at RI Hospital, and the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion in New Hampshire.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Wickford Art Association is a non-profit organization with approximately 450 members from Rhode Island and New England.
