Capital preservation grants on the ballot March 2<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Governor Gina Raimondo has certified seven bond issues for Rhode Island\u2019s special election to be held on March 2, 2021. A \u201cyes\u201d vote on Question 6 supports authorizing the issuance of $1 million in bonds for the\u00a0State Preservation Grants<\/a><\/span>\u00a0program.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

State Preservation Grants support and leverage the restoration, preservation, and adaptive reuse of public and nonprofit-owned museums, cultural art centers, and public historic sites. Since it was last funded in 2014, the program has invested more than $10 million in and created hundreds of jobs related to 57 projects at Rhode Island\u2019s irreplaceable historic properties. Since 2003, State Preservation Grants have been awarded to projects in 31 of the state\u2019s 39 cities and towns.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

RIHPHC\u2019s\u00a0CLG grants<\/a>\u00a0support preservation planning. Our 2021 priorities include projects that protect historic resources from the effects of climate change and sea level rise, and projects that promote the recognition or preservation of historic resources associated with people of color and other historically underrepresented groups.\u00a0Applications due 1\/15\/21.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The RIHPHC Senior Historic Preservation Specialist \u2013 Project Review Coordinator conducts\/coordinates reviews and provides technical assistance to meet historic preservation requirements, protect historic resources, and assist Rhode Island projects to secure federal and state approval.\u00a0The Project Review Coordinator must meet National Park Service professional standards as a historian, architectural historian, or archaeologist.\u00a0Knowledge of federal Section 106 review and experience in project review is preferred. Salary range (annual): $51K \u2013 $59K.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
