Main St., Woonsocket, R.I.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong>RIHS to Celebrate Holidays With Open House, Santa\u2019s Workshop at MoWC<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong>Event Will Feature Tree- and Cookie-Decorating, Historical Toys, and Elf-Led Activities<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-277\" src=\"https:\/\/dodgemillmuseum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/E-RIHS_HolidayOpenHouse_1-1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong>WOONSOCKET, R.I.\u00a0 \u2013 The Rhode Island Historical Society invites the community to visit the Museum of Work &amp; Culture on Saturday, Dec. 7, 1-5pm, for the organization\u2019s annual Holiday Open House, offered as part of\u00a0Woonsocket\u2019s Main Street Holiday Stroll. The day will feature a variety of holiday-themed activities for adults and children alike.<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong>At 10:30 am, visitors can join Anne Jalette as she leads a tabletop boxwood tree decorating activity. Pre-registration is required for this activity, and trees and all decorations will be provided for an advance fee of $25 for RIHS members or $30 for non-members. Space is limited to 20 participants. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong>Individuals can register at\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000095;\" href=\"http:\/\/shopmowc.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #950000;\">shopmowc.com<\/span><\/a><\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong>Beginning at 1 pm, the public is welcome to take part in an afternoon of free activities. This includes<em>\u00a0<\/em>decorating cookies from Wright\u2019s Dairy Farm &amp; Bakery, helping Santa\u2019s elves build and test toys in their workshop, writing letters to Santa, playing with historic toys, and participating in holiday story time. There will also be a performance of holiday songs by Spencer Soucy and Friends at 2:30 pm.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-275\" src=\"https:\/\/dodgemillmuseum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/E-RIHS_HolidayOpenHouse_2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong>In addition, guests may tour the MoWC, which will be decked in its holiday finest, while enjoying cookies provided by\u00a0Seven Stars Bakery. There will also be a display of holiday ephemera from the RIHS collection in the changing gallery, as well as screenings of holiday footage from the film archive.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong>The MoWC gift shop will also offer a 20% discount throughout the day.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong>Please note: All cookies may\u00a0contain peanuts, tree nuts, or other allergens.<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #950000;\">About the Museum of Work &amp; Culture<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #950000;\"><strong>The interactive and educational Museum of Work &amp; Culture shares the stories of the men, women, and children who came to find a better life in Rhode Island\u2019s mill towns in the late 19th- and 20th centuries. It recently received a\u00a0<em>Rhode Island Monthly<\/em>\u00a0Best of Rhode Island Award for its SensAbilities Saturdays all-ability program.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #950000;\"><strong>About the Rhode Island Historical Society<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #950000;\"><strong>Founded in 1822, the RIHS, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is the fourth-oldest historical society in the United States and is Rhode Island\u2019s largest and oldest historical organization. In Providence, the RIHS owns and operates the John Brown House Museum, a designated National Historic Landmark, built in 1788; the Aldrich House, built in 1822 and used for administration and public programs; and the Mary Elizabeth Robinson Research Center, where archival, book, and image collections are housed.
