Each program will feature a specially designed program at 1 pm, followed by a Memory Cafe at 2 pm.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #27004e;\">January\u2019s program will feature a music therapy session led by a Licensed, Board-Certified Neurologic Music Therapist from\u00a0Hands in Harmony, a local nonprofit organization located in Kingston, RI. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in Neurologic Music Therapy interventions to work on memory and recall, fluidity of speech, motor control, range of motion, and response time.\u00a0These events are free and made possible with the generous support of\u00a0CVS Health Charity Classic. Registration is requested by emailing\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000f2;\"><a style=\"color: #0000f2;\" href=\"mailto:mowc@rihs.org\">mowc@rihs.org<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>or calling (401) 769-9675.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #27004e;\">This series is a part of\u00a0Rhode Island\u2019s Memory Cafe Network, whose mission is to support Rhode Islanders touched by memory loss or cognitive impairment with a community-based support network rooted in camaraderie, fellowship, and comfort.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #27004e;\">As an additional feature of the program, the Museum will be launching a Memory Map developed in collaboration with the Memory &amp; Aging Program at Butler Hospital. This new tool will help caretakers navigate the Museum and provide specially developed questions to help prompt conversations. These materials will be available at the Museum\u2019s front desk, as well as the Rhode Island Historical Society\u2019s website.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #0000f2;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">About the Museum of Work &amp; Culture<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #0000f2;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The interactive and educational Museum of Work &amp; Culture shares the stories of the men, women, and children who came to find a better life in Rhode Island\u2019s mill towns in the late 19th- and 20th centuries. It recently received a\u00a0Rhode Island Monthly\u00a0Best of Rhode Island Award for its SensAbilities Saturdays all-ability program.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #0000f2;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">About the Rhode Island Historical Society<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #0000f2;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Founded in 1822, the RIHS, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is the fourth-oldest historical society in the United States and is Rhode Island\u2019s largest and oldest historical organization. In Providence, the RIHS owns and operates the John Brown House Museum, a designated National Historic Landmark, built in 1788; the Aldrich House, built in 1822 and used for administration and public programs; and the Mary Elizabeth Robinson Research Center, where archival, book and image collections are housed.
