This year&#8217;s entries offer the artists\u2019 perspectives on home.\u00a0The show is curated by Hartford, Conn.-based artist\u00a0Matthew Best.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #950000;\">A public opening reception for the exhibit will take place on Saturday, March 14, from 1 to 3 pm. The reception will include light refreshments and additional performance-based works.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #950000;\">This event is also part of\u00a0Brain Week Rhode Island\u00a0(March 14-22), a week-long celebration of brain health and brain science for Rhode Islanders of all ages. Creative learning activities and events include expert panels, talks, film screenings, workshops, and a Brain Fair with interactive science exhibits. It recently received a\u00a0<em>Rhode Island Monthly<\/em>\u00a0Best of Rhode Island Award for its SensAbilities Saturdays all-ability program.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ce0000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">About the Rhode Island Historical Society<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #950000;\">Founded in 1822, the RIHS, a Smithsonian Affiliate is the fourth-oldest historical society in the United States and is Rhode Island\u2019s largest and oldest historical organization. In Providence, the RIHS owns and operates the John Brown House Museum, a designated National Historic Landmark, built in 1788; the Aldrich House, built in 1822 and used for administration and public programs; and the Mary Elizabeth Robinson Research Center, where archival, book, and image collections are housed.
