Though times are uncertain, let\u2019s reflect on Rhode Island\u2019s historic preservation successes. Who are your historic preservation heroes? Where are the recently completed projects you admire? What programs and policies have made a difference in your community? RIHPHC and Preserve Rhode Island seek your nominations\u00a0for the\u00a02020\u00a0Rhody Awards for Historic Preservation<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We will celebrate the Rhody Award winners this October. Please save the date for our annual awards event on Sunday, October 6 at the historic Rhode Island State House in Providence\u00a0. We are also developing contingency plans if we are unable to gather in person. One way or another, we will toast Rhode Island\u2019s preservation all-stars this fall.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The R.I. Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission\u00a0office\u00a0is open with limited staffing during weekday business hours (9am \u2013 4pm). Many staff members are teleworking and accessible by\u00a0email<\/a><\/span>\u00a0. Public access is limited to deliveries and pickups. Please use the doorbell at the Benefit Street entrance (with your elbow).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Please note that the April 2020\u00a0meetings\u00a0of the Commission and Strategic Planning Committee have been cancelled. The annual preservation conference, Back to the Future, has been postponed to Saturday, April 24, 2021.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
