{"id":902,"date":"2020-05-23T17:29:21","date_gmt":"2020-05-23T17:29:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dodgemillmuseum.com\/?p=902"},"modified":"2020-05-23T17:29:21","modified_gmt":"2020-05-23T17:29:21","slug":"watershed-action-alliance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dodgemillmuseum.com\/?p=902","title":{"rendered":"Watershed Action Alliance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"single-title page-header\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\">Southeastern Massachusetts<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22567 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mybackyardnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/A-WATER-SHED-herring.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"355\" \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\">Learn along\u00a0with WAA as we explore environmental justice and issues of equity, diversity and inclusion in water conservation and watershed health in preparation for our March 2021 conference on these topics.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\">Each month at our meetings we will hear from a Southeastern Massachusetts neighbor from a group historically underrepresented in watershed associations and in discussions about environmental health and protection. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\">Underrepresented groups include communities of color, those for whom English is a second language, people with disabilities and those with low income. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\">Many of these communities are inequitably harmed by impacts to the environment while receiving fewer benefits associated with a healthy environment, such as clean drinking water and access to water recreation.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\">In May, Melissa Ferretti, the president and chair-lady of the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe located in Plymouth spoke to us at our meeting. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\">Although we didn\u2019t record her presentation as we will later ones, you can find other materials for the learn-along\u00a0<span style=\"color: #950000;\"><a style=\"color: #950000;\" href=\"https:\/\/cts.vresp.com\/c\/?WatershedActionAllia\/f405a059f7\/b21d4e13ae\/8943113ea0\">posted on our website<\/a><\/span>. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\">Read about Ferretti and her vision as president, how to speak respectfully about Native Americans, and about traditional ecological knowledge and what this can teach other cultures.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000095;\">Each month we will post more short readings, websites to visit, and other materials, such as video.
