THE GAMM THEATRE

“MAKE A PLAY ANYWAY”

with Steve Kidd

Collaborate, and connect with other willing and generous actors as part of our new programming using Zoom technology to rehearse and perform a play.

Here’s what some students from our pilot class based on Nick Payne’s  Constellations  are saying:

“This was, indeed, a very special, intimate and emotional journey for many of us, in a time where we need to be physically apart. Extra kudos to Steve for being such a thoughtful, emotionally connected, and kind person in this process.”

“I had such a profound experience in this class. What I got was so much more than just a scene study. Steve is certainly one of the most affirming teachers I’ve ever had.”

July 20 – August 31 | Mondays 6:30 – 9:30 pm

“LUNGS”

Work together to produce a version of Duncan MacMillan’s  Lungs,  then perform it live on Zoom on August 31. You will be cast as one of the play’s two characters for several 3-5 minute scenes, and will collaborate with multiple actors in rehearsing and performing the entire 90-minute play. Actors are required to learn their lines, investigate their own good/bad acting habits and fully commit to the realities of the characters for the best possible performance for our audience.

July 22 – September 2 | Wednesdays 6:30 – 9:30 pm

 “TRUE WEST”

Sam Sheppard’s  True West  is one of the most admired and produced plays in the American Theater. Dive into a full virtual production with actor and instructor Steve Kidd, who played Austin in The Gamm’s 2020 production of  True West . This play has been staged with two sisters as well as two brothers, so all genders and ages are invited to take part. Rehearsals will cultivate our collective imagination through extensive table work and beat-by-beat scene investigation, bringing these famed characters to our own personal experience.
