Celebrate! Every September Saturday is a RI Heritage Day
The RI Heritage Month celebration is a weekly virtual event featuring 41 performances and demonstrations from Rhode Island’s diverse cultural community.
This Saturday’s lineup includes Narragansett and Korean drumming, Greek and Middle Eastern dances, North Indian music, Italian and Chinese crafts, and one of last year’s highlights–a multicultural fashion show!
Join the celebration on Zoom at 1pm this Saturday, 9/19. For more information, contact Donna Alqassar
A Tale of Two City Halls
North Providence and Cumberland have recently used Certified Local Government (CLG) Grant funding to complete conditions assessments of important town-owned buildings– North Providence’s Old Town Hall (1879, above) and Cumberland Town Hall (1894, below).
Each plan identifies building deficiencies, categorizes needs as immediate, medium, or long-term, and provides a prioritized list of recommendations and associated cost estimates.
These reports will be extremely valuable resources for Town administrators and decision-makers as they plan and pursue funding for the long-term preservation of these historic structures.
Certified Local Government Grants are awarded annually to applicants from 18 Rhode Island CLG municipalities.
