MASSACHUSETTS HISTORICAL COMMISSION ANNOUNCES NEW LISTING IN THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES: ATTLEBORO DODGEVILLE MILL

MARKING A CHANGE

“The designation marks the beginning of the next chapter we envision for the Historic Dodgeville Mill.” said mill owner Gary Demers.

“We have been working to establish the DodgeVille Mill on the National Register for several years, in that time we have also been working towards developing the space within the mill to adapt to assembly use in a historically friendly manner.”

“We have the place, the people and the plan. We have the sun, the river and the wind. We have the space. We have a Board. We have direction.”

“We are committed to cherish the history, to embrace the present, and to celebrate the future.”

Immediate plans and projects include the Museum At The Mill, A Nest For New Business, and a Mill Village Cultural Center.

The Museum At The Mill will be the anchor of the Adaptive Re-use of Historic Buildings Plan. The space will afford an historical presentation of the mill and community through the centuries. Sections of the museum will be accurate restorations of rooms, buildings and businesses in that history. A significant internet presence and YouTube Channel will create national and international recognition and regard.

A Nest For New Business will create professional space in an impressive, “destination” building. The ceilings are high, the flooring astonishing, and the windows wonderful. The building is internet state of the art. You will not have to direct clients. They will know the Dodgeville Mill. Yes, indoor parking will be available.

The Mill Village Cultural Center will celebrate the community and the neighborhood. The Center will provide meeting, greeting, and celebrating space. Galleries, Classrooms, and Studios will be available. Wood working and metal shop areas will be offered for classes. Remember, the Mill once provided a school house, a store, a blacksmith shop, a machine shop, a barn and a chapel.

This is the next chapter in the history of the Dodgeville Mill!
