Celebrate the Season at Linden Place Mansion with Safe, Fun and Festive Outdoor Events this Week

The week includes several eclectic concerts, an artisan fair and a family day at the 200 year-old mansion in downtown Bristol.

 

Friday, December 11, 6 PM – The Greg Abate Jazz Quartet. 

The sounds of saxophonist, flutist, and composer, Greg Abate, and his quartet of piano, drums and bass will fill the heated garden tent of the Linden Place gardens on Friday, December 11th at 6:00 PM. The limited-seating concert will include be-bop, jazz standards, Abate’s original compositions and some holiday classics!

Abate has experience playing with the Ray Charles Orchestra and the Artie Shaw band with clarinetist Dick Johnson during the 1980s. In 2016, Abate was inducted in the RI Music Hall of Fame. Tickets $30, $25 for members and must be reserved in advance.

Saturday, December 12th, 11am-3pm – 1st Annual Artisan Market. 

Set under a gorgeous century tent and scattered among the beautifully decorated and historic sculpture gardens of the 1810 mansion in downtown Bristol will be dozens of artisans and their unique offerings.  Meet talented, local artists and see their amazing creations. From jewelry, weaving, clothing, pottery, and more, what better way to pick up that special handmade gift for the holidays while supporting local artists? A safe, festive outdoor shopping experience in the heart of Bristol, Rhode Island. Admission is free.

Saturday, December 12th, 6pm – Project Flynn

From Herbie Hancock to Miles Davis, up to contemporary jazz performers such as Grover Washington Jr., Dave Grusin, Tom Scott, and Steely Dan, get outside with Project Flynn for a memorable night of music and fun!  Featuring Steve O’Connell- Saxes, EWI & Keys, LeWayne Fisher- Bass, Phil Plante- Guitar, Ray Leonardo- Percussion and Taylor Field- Drums, this event takes place in the beautifully decorated heated tent in the Linden Place gardens. Tickets $30, $25 for members and must be reserved in advance.

Sunday, December 13, 11am-1pm – Family Fun Day. 

Featuring an arts & crafts take-away, refreshments, story time, scavenger hunts, a dance exhibition and a visit by beloved Disney characters, this afternoon at Linden Place is not to be missed!

The day begins at 11am with a scavenger hunt through the Linden Place grounds and a holiday dance exhibition by Bristol’s own Extensions Dance Studio. At 12pm, enjoy story time with Steve under the garden tent followed by a drop in by your favorite Disney characters! Families are also welcome to take a family selfie in front of our tent’s beautiful fireplace setting.

Sunday, December 13th, 2 PM – Your Favorite Brass Quintet

 will grace the Linden Place gardens for an afternoon of holiday-inspired music that will have you feeling like you stepped into a winter wonderland.  Your Favorite Brass Quintet became the Brass Quintet in Residence at Salve Regina University. The quintet members enjoy playing a diverse repertoire, from baroque, classical and more modern pieces for the brass quintet, to jazz standards, popular pieces and movie music. $30, $25 for members and reservations must be made in advance.
