NON-PROFIT TO DO LIST!

ARTS FOUNDATION OF CAPE COD: NON-PROFIT TO DO LIST

AFCC Member Check-In and the latest information and resources on the pandemic

Dear Member,

I’ll cut to the chase. This is a devastating time for the arts. We are all trying to figure things out as quickly as we can.

Right now, our focus at the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod is finding as many resources to share that may help for the short- and long-term.

We are communicating with our local and state legislators to keep arts in the forefront as they roll out disaster relief funds and update unemployment options. We also want to make sure we all stay connected as we need to stick together.

Here’s what we’d like to share this week:

If you have not done this already, CHECK YOUR FINANCES!

I connected with our fiscal consultant today to get the top 5 things nonprofits should be addressing this week. Here’s what she had to say:

Review your fixed costs.Don’t be afraid to ask your landlord, copy lease holder, IT contractor, etc. to defer their fees for one to two months. It will benefit them in the end.

What are nonessential things you can pause today? You don’t need cleaning services, water delivery, etc. if you are not in the office.

This is a tough one. Do you have employees whose jobs are not conducive to remote work?If so, think about connecting them to unemployment insurance as soon as possible. Be open, honest, and keep the channels of communication open — this is hard for everyone so make sure your employees understand why these decisions are being made.

Contact your legislators via email or phone. The more they understand the pain of the impact, the easier it is for them to advocate. Collectively, our voices carry more weight with those who have access to the funding our industry will need when this is over.

MOST IMPORTANT: Your cash flow. Work with your Treasurer and/or Board of Directors to forecast your short- (6 weeks) and long-term cash flow.

Your next steps: Review your budget and make any necessary adjustments.
