CULTURAL CENTER OF CAPE COD

Step Outside with Betsy Payne Cook

June 4 from 8:30-11:30 am

Online: Plein Air Workshop, Sketching and Painting from Life

This class will provide tips for sketching and painting from life, whether you are outdoors or by your window looking out. Betsy will begin the workshop with a pastel painting demo, sharing pointers for setting up on location and narrowing the field of vision, choosing a composition for a painting, and translating the light on the scene into values. She will then give students several exercises to complete, suitable for both sketching and painting: developing sketching and planning skills, painting masses, simplifying shapes and details. Individual feedback will be given during class. Betsy paints in pastels, but information shared in this workshop will apply to other drawing and painting mediums as well.

Writing as a Way of Healing with Kathleen Budreski

Starting June 10

Four Wednesdays

from 10 am-11:30 am

This class invites students to join in a supportive non-judgmental group of others who enjoy journaling and writing. NO experience necessary. Through a process of simple pertinent prompts, participants will share what they have been experiencing individually and collectively during the pandemic and will learn that writing, as a way of healing, has great value. Students will share their stories, as comfortable, in the virtual classroom. The results will reflect wisdom and values and will serve as a legacy keepsake to share with offspring and pass down to future generations. This class is intended to be rewarding, educational, and fun.
